Every January 22nd, we celebrate the absolute BEST day of the year (for a pepperhead, at least). That’s right—it’s National Hot Sauce Day! This annual celebration commemorates the diverse flavors, and of course, the fiery heat of hot sauces around the globe. So, what better way to show your appreciation for our favorite holiday than with some awesome hot sauce flavors?! Time to ignite those taste buds.
1. Smoky as Hell
Bring some smoky goodness with chipotle pepper sauces! Chipotle peppers are known for their complex smoky flavors and delicate sweetness—which are made even better with the Torchbearer touch. We’ve ditched the artificial flavors and preservatives typical of so many store-bought sauces, using only fruits, veggies, spice blends, and the naturally smoky flavors of chipotle to bottle up a flavor explosion. Make a delish recipe with hot sauce using the garlicky and savory flavors of Shinedown’s Symptom Chipotle Garlic, sweet-smoky-spicy Son of Zombie (featured on Hot Ones!), or another smoky sauce to ring in the holiday.
2. Nice ‘n’ Sweet
Sweet flavors on National Hot Sauce Day? You better believe it! Ingredients like honey and citrus fruits swirl together with your favorite peppers—Reaper, Scorpion, habanero—for sweet hot sauces that are guaranteed to satisfy your craving for spice…and maybe your sweet tooth, too. Try something new this year! Normally use medium hot sauces? Go for a face melter like Honey Badger or Plum Reaper. Love sauces that are less akin to lava? Tamp things down with a milder sauce like Honey Garlic.
3. Deliciously Fiery
A little spiciness is practically a given on a holiday literally about hot sauce. But we don’t want those same-old bottles that are filled with vinegar and heat just for the sake of being spicy. What do we want? Flavor! When do we want it? NOW! Our spicy hot sauces are filled with awesome flavors and heat. That’s because we let the natural flavors of peppers, fruits, and vegetables shine. Earthy and slightly citrusy Slaughter Sauce™. The oniony, pour-it-on-everything Sweet and Onion Habanero. Smoky and spicy Headless Horseradish. Dare to taste the blaze this National Hot Sauce Day!
4. Blazin’ Hot
You’ve tasted some smokiness. You’ve savored the sweet. Now, it’s time to crank up the taste bud thermostat to about a gazillion with some major scorchers, a.k.a. extreme hot sauces. They have Reaper Peppers, Ghost Peppers, and most importantly, flavor! Otherwise, what’s the point? Slather your pizza in creamy, savory Garlic Reaper. Douse your tacos with the smokin’ Nekrogoblikon’s Goblin Blood. Feeling brave? Try our hottest sauce yet: The Rapture™. It’s made from a devilish blend of Reapers, Moruga and Trinidad Scorpion Peppers, Ghost Peppers, AND habaneros.
Celebrate National Hot Sauce Day In 2025
Sorry to those other holidays, but National Hot Sauce Day is our most wonderful time of the year! Celebrate the day by challenging your heat-loving friends and family to the sauces on Hot Ones. Make some wings. Or, simply add an extra drizzle on your tacos just because. Light your torch!
Andy – the Marketing & Sales Manager | Sauce Wizard, full-time foodie, and lover of all things hot sauce. He’s got a serious thing for flavor and spice, which is why he’s been on his own personal mission to crown the best hot sauce EVER (though his indecisiveness really keeps getting in his way). Some of his current favorite Torchbearer Sauces include Son of Zombie, Garlic Reaper, and Mushroom Mayhem, but ask him next week and the answer might change. He also hopes to be on First We Feast’s Hot Ones one day, if Sean would finally just answer his emails…
